Crookston Area Community Fund previously agreed to fund the floor’s purchase

American Crystal Sugar has awarded Crookston Sports Center a check for $5,000 to help with the purchase of a portable sports floor and for equipment needed to accommodate the multiple sports. By adding this portable sports floor it will allow other sports to take advantage of the three arenas inside the CSC during off-ice season.

Crookston Sports Center is an 87,000 square foot facility that boasts three arenas, seating for over 1,200, 14 locker rooms, 8 restrooms, and 800 square foot concession area, a large community room and 268 parking spaces. It is open to the public seven days a week there is a full schedule (including open availability) at crookstonsportscenter.com.

Adding a portable sports floor option to the already successful ice and turf arenas would allow anyone in the community, young and old, access to their favorite sport which includes basketball, volleyball, tennis, pickle ball, and more. The floor can be moved indoors and outdoors, and the total project equals an area for two basketball courts.

The Crookston Area Community Fund, a joint initiative of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, agreed to fund the purchase of the floor itself ($62,100) in late May and the floor is currently in the process of being shipped to Crookston Sports Center.

The sports court floor will be available to the public to play a variety of sports such as basketball, volleyball, tennis, pickleball, dodgeball and more during off-ice season.
