Five juveniles escaped serious injury after striking a power pole in rural East Grand Forks early Thursday. According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, minutes before 1 a.m. Thursday, a 15 year old male was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Impala with four juvenile passengers when they left Polk County Road 58 and went into the ditch and hit a power pole, knocking down power lines.

    Five juveniles escaped serious injury after striking a power pole in rural East Grand Forks early Thursday. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, minutes before 1 a.m. Thursday, a 15 year old male was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Impala with four juvenile passengers when they left Polk County Road 58 and went into the ditch and hit a power pole, knocking down power lines.  

    All five were wearing seat belts and alcohol was involved, the PCSO states.  

    The East Grand Forks Police Department, East Grand Forks Fire and Rescue, Minnesota State Patrol, and Altru Ambulance assisted at the scene.  The five juveniles were taken to Altru Hospital's emergency room for observation.  

    Red River Valley Cooperative was dispatched to the scene to repair the power lines.  

    The investigation continues.
