Handicapped-accessible Porta-Potty will be sought

A concerned Crookston resident approached the City Council Monday evening and said that his friend, who is a double amputee, was told she could not get a key to the bathroom in Central Park while she was there fishing.

Larry Munson said she was told by the City when she called that the bathrooms there are only for campers.

“I’m not an attorney or anything, but it’s a bad policy for anyone in Crookston to not be able to use a bathroom or Porta-Potty,” Munson said blatantly.

Later at the Ways and Means Committee meeting, Mayor Wayne Melbye brought up the subject again to council members and Parks and Recreation Director Scott Riopelle said he would look into installing a handicapped-accessible Porta-Potty in Central Park soon.
