The Rydell and Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuges celebrated 25 years Sunday with a gathering that included golf cart tours, activities for kids, open visitor center and gift shop, an educational program on raptor birds by The Nature Connection, food and more.

The Rydell and Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuges celebrated 25 years Sunday with a gathering that included golf cart tours, activities for kids, open visitor center and gift shop, an educational program on raptor birds by The Nature Connection, food and more.

Loren ‘Punky’ Johnson welcomed guests to the celebration and gave information on the history of the refuge.

During The Nature Connection's program on raptor birds, a Northern Saw-Whet Owl, Peregrine Falcon and Rough-Feathered Hawk were introduced to the crowd by director Chris Tolman.

On the golf cart tours, guests viewed the bogs, lakes and prairie that make up the refuge.
