New committee takes the reins; information meeting June 15 at the Shanty

Despite what you may have heard, the Miss Crookston Scholarship Pageant will continue this year. Most of the previous committee members have retired, but rather than let the pageant fizzle, a new committee has been developed to keep the annual pageant tradition alive, says Lisa Anderson of Crookston.

Interested pageant contestants must be entering their senior year of high school or be a CHS graduate and not yet 20 years of age. There are several girls who have already shown interest in competing in this year’s Miss Crookston Pageant, Anderson said. Any girls interested or planning to participate should attend the informational meeting on Thursday, June 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Irishman’s Shanty, in the back room.

The new committee consists of JeanAnn Bienek, chair; Judy Meyer, secretary; Adrianne Winger, talent chair and social media liaison; Lindsey Erdman, interview chair, and Lisa Anderson, public relations.

The goal of the committee, Anderson says, is to foster fun, friendship, self-improvement and self-confidence. “We do truly believe that it is a wonderful experience for each of the contestants,” she added.

The committee is seeking people and businesses to enhance scholarship opportunities available to the participants. If you are interested in contributing to the scholarship fund, contact JeanAnn Bienek at or 289-5400.
