Five-year deal includes annual pay increases, signing bonus
At American Crystal Sugar’s factory in Crookston and at factories in four other Minnesota and North Dakota cities, there will be no repeat of the summer of 2011, when a contract impasse led the company to lock out around 1,200 workers who belong to the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers union. The lockout lasted two years.
Thursday, union members approved a new, five-year labor contract that includes 2.7 percent annual pay increases in the first four years, and a 3 percent increase in year five. The new contract also includes a signing bonus of $2,250.
