Composer and performer Gao Hong, acclaimed master of the beautiful Chinese “pipa” lute, will perform at the University of Minnesota Crookston on Wednesday, March 22, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Prairie Room, Sargeant Student Center.

Composer and performer Gao Hong, acclaimed master of the beautiful Chinese “pipa” lute, will perform at the University of Minnesota Crookston on Wednesday, March 22, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Prairie Room, Sargeant Student Center.
    The performance is free and open to the public and Parking Lot A (near the student center) is recommended for parking. Tea and snacks will be served.
    The performance is presented by the Confucius Institute at the University of Minnesota Crookston.
Gao Hong is a composer and performer who plays the Chinese pipa, a pear-shaped lute. She is the director of the Chinese Music Ensemble at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she also serves as senior lecturer in Chinese musical instruments as well as director of world music. Hong has earned numerous awards and honors, and she has performed across the globe in solo concerts and with symphony orchestras, jazz musicians, and other musicians from various cultures.
