Friday morning should feature the most frigid conditions so far this winter
Wind gusts in Crookston and the region are eclipsing the 40 miles per hour mark and the blowing, drifting and dangerous wind chills the winds are producing dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills, and reduced visibility in open areas, even whiteout conditions.
As a result, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory until late Thursday afternoon, then upgraded it to a blizzard warning due to the ground blizzard conditions. The warning expired at 1 p.m. Thursday, however.
The weather is impacting the events calendar. The game in Crookston between Park Rapids Area and the Pirates in boys' hockey has been postponed.
The system is expected to usher in the coldest conditions of the winter so far, with Friday morning low temperatures in and around Crookston flirting with 30 below zero.
But hang in there, because a warm-up is apparently on the way, with temperatures next week approaching 30...above zero.
