More than 40 kids participated in this year’s Summer Arts Safari, a week filled with drama-related activities led by a touring troupe of young adult thespians that culminated in a nearly full-house performance of the musical, “Winnie the Pooh,” on Saturday in Kiehle Auditorium on the University of Minnesota, Crookston campus. Crookston Community Theatre and American Legion Post 20 co-sponsor the workshop and production, the 10th year in Crookston.
SAS has two troupes that travel throughout northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota communities during the summer. The Crookston performance was the final one on SAS’s summer 2010 schedule; the other troupe spent the week in Warren, Minn., which ended with the performance of “Schoolhouse Rock” on Friday. The troupe that visited Crookston consisted of Cory Carivau, Erin O’Neil, Michon Prichett and Alyce Stokke, all from the East Grand Forks/Grand Forks area, where SAS is based out of.
