February is here, so that means it’s Fitness Fever time again! Every Sunday in February, free fitness-related activities will be offered in Crookston for the entire area. The month’s events kick off Feb. 5, from 1 to 2 p.m., with Tae Kwon Do and active play at the Community Family Service Center gym (formerly Carman School). We will have jungle gyms for toddlers and preschoolers to participate, while Championship Tae Kwon Do will capture the older ages with demonstrations and instructions.
Free swimming at the Crookston Pool will follow on Feb. 12, from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. Bring your towel plus some friends and enjoy the warm water. Feb. 19 we will offer sledding at Sunrise Hill and cross country skiing at the Mount St. Benedict Trails, from 1 to 3 p.m. Skis will be available for use. Warm-up and snack will be at the Cathedral Gym. The last ski check-out is 2:30 p.m. It is recommended to dress in layers, as one might start skiing chilled, but end up feeling warm. We will wrap up the month of February on Feb. 26, with free ice skating at Crookston Sports Center from 1 to 3 p.m. Ice skates in many sizes will be available for youth and adults. If skating is too challenging, consider a few laps around the indoor walking track. A small snack will be provided and the concession stand may be available to purchase items.
Children and adults of all ages are welcome to attend all the free fitness events. Numerous door prizes from many local sponsors will be given away at each event.
