Welcome artists and art lovers of the Red River Valley.
The newly formed group, River Walk Artists Co-operative, featuring award winning and well known artists from the northern Red River Valley, is pleased to invite the public to their art gallery and cooperative shop. Future art classes for the community, and classes and support for artists to develop in their skills as professional and showing artists are being planned.
River Walk Artists is an artists' cooperative formed as a gallery/retail shop in the River Walk Centre in East Grand Forks. The mission is to provide artists with collective support to build their artistic careers; to provide artists with a permanent space to exhibit and sell their artwork; to engage the community at large with the arts; and to increase awareness and appreciation of the visual arts throughout the Red River Valley community.
The month of December in 2011 was a trial period for the group to see if there was enough interest from local artists and the community to warrant such and endeavor. With help and guidance from Northwest Minnesota Arts Council the group came together, formulated a plan and opened their doors for a month long trial run. In January 2012 their group reviewed their experience and decided to formally create a group. They elected officers and are currently in the process of setting up their business, developing their by-laws, exhibition schedule, and class calendar.
