The Crookston Area Chamber of Commerce presented plaques to the winners of the Beautification Committee Awards Program on Sunday during Ox Cart Days. More than 160 sites were in the first round of judging that  scored on eight different areas, everything from signage and windows to condition of the building and overall “wow” factor. Three different rounds of judging were held, the first two by the Chamber’s Beautification Committee, with the final round winners chosen by judges from Grand Forks and Thief River Falls.

The winners were:  Public Institution or Church – Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception; Landscaped Business – Arby’s; Storefront – Montague's Flower Shop. A Lifetime Achievement award was also presented to the University of Minnesota, Crookston for its ongoing commitment to excellence. The winners will be retired from the next two years of judging.
