The 2010 Miss Crookston Scholarship Pageant, celebrating its 20th year in the current format, takes place Friday at 7 p.m. in the Crookston High School Auditorium. A handful of tickets remain and are available for sale at Crookston Floral, although they are expected to go quick. Ten contestants are vying for the title, the last three profiled here.

Rachel Lariviere
Q: First of all, some background info: Your family – parents, siblings, dogs, cats, etc.; your talent; and your sponsors.
A: My parents are Chuck and Paula. I have a brother, Ryan, and a sister, Andrea. My talent is dancing and RBJ's is sponsoring me.
  
Q: What activities are you involved in at school and elsewhere?
A: Leo Club, figure skating, tennis
  
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: Read, write, skate, play tennis, sleep
 
Q: What are your plans after high school, and how do you see yourself in ten years?
A: Go to college for Social Work, I'm not sure where yet.
 
Q: Tell us about your platform.
A: It's on Child Obesity.
 
Q: What do you hope to take away from the Miss Crookston experience?
A: I hope to come out of my shell and be more confident in myself.

Nikki Peterson
Q: First of all, some background info: Your family – parents, siblings, dogs, cats, etc.; your talent; and your sponsors.
A: My parents are Mark and Becky Peterson. I have one brother, Jake Peterson. I have two dogs and 11 cats. My talent is a dance and my sponsor is Happy Joe's.
  
Q: What activities are you involved in at school and elsewhere? Have you received any awards or special recognition for your accomplishments?
A: I'm in band, volleyball, Treasurettes and Leo Club. I have lettered in band and Treasurettes twice and I'm the new Treasurette captain.
  
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: I like to hang out with my friends, go to movies, have bonfires and play with my animals.
 
Q: What are your plans after high school, and how do you see yourself in ten years?
A: My plans are to go to a university but not sure where yet. I see myself settled in a job and possibility a family.
 
Q: Tell us about your platform.
A: My platform is on animal testing.
 
Q: What do you hope to take away from the Miss Crookston experience?
A: I hope to make new friends and strengthen the relationships I already have with the girls. They are amazing and we always have a blast.

Hannah Edlund
Q: First of all, some background info: Your family – parents, siblings, dogs, cats, etc.; your talent; and your sponsors.
A: My dad is Don and he is a youth pastor at RFLC. My mom Dawn owns North Scandia Embroidery and is employed at Erickson Embroidery. My sister Katie is 20 and is going to college for child development. My brother Isaac is currently 19 and attending Association Free Lutheran Bible School in the Cities. Josh is planning on graduating, he is now a sophomore and will be 16 September 17. Luke is 13 and just came back from a mission trip to Baja, Mexico. We have 2 horses, Dusty and Blizzard, and one dog Kodi.
  
Q: What activities are you involved in at school and elsewhere? Have you received any awards or special recognition for your accomplishments?
A: Volleyball, softball, One Act, spring play, band, student council; we went to State for one act my freshman year
  
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: I like to run or watch movies with my family.
 
Q: What are your plans after high school, and how do you see yourself in ten years?
A: I would like to go to a bible school in the Cities, or major in family consumer science, or just move to Ireland, get married and be a mom. In ten years I will be owning a half-way house in Ireland with about six or seven kids with a beautiful husband and a wonderful church.
 
Q: Tell us about your platform.
A: My platform is “there could never be a more beautiful you” and it's about the world's view of beauty and what beauty really is. Beauty isn't a certain color or size, but it's who you are.
 
Q: What do you hope to take away from the Miss Crookston experience?
A: A group of close friends
