More than 100 girls in grades K-6 along with their fathers, grandfathers and other adult males in their lives turned out for the second annual Gala for Girls: Girls Rock at the National Guard Armory on Friday. The event lasted from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Many of the girls donned their fanciest attire for the event, sponsored by Parents Helping Parents and the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Polk County. Throughout the evening, attendees had their photograph taken, enjoyed a sit-down dinner with entertainment and danced the night away for two hours, with door prizes provided by local businesses and organizations.
