These days, it seems the trend is to surprise fans, releasing new music with no fanfare. If the artist has enough fans, or the work is striking enough, word will spread like wildfire.

Stealing is stealing, no matter how much Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I. try to blur the lines. The fact remains – “Blurred Lines” is a blatant rip-off of the late Marvin Gaye’s “Got To Give It Up.”

I might be one of the few “American Idol” loyalists left to say this, but I like the new format. I enjoy the new scheme of things, although I think I much prefer the two-hour episodes instead of the cram-packed hour-long ones we have now.

The Crookston High School Concert Band scored a superior (highest) rating from all three of the judges at the Region 8A Large Group Band Contest Monday in the CHS auditorium.

The University of Jamestown’s Department of Music will present a sophomore recital featuring McKaela Larson and Valerie Kerner at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 28th in Voorhees Chapel. The recital is free and open to the public.
