Former longtime CHS coach Ed Nelson is spearheading an effort to document athletics at Crookston High School. It is a monumental task of organizing and compiling all the information and Ed has taken on the job.
Currently, significant information for both boys and girls basketball, girls hockey, wrestling and football has been gathered but there are still a few holes. Other sports such as baseball, golf, boys hockey, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field and volleyball have work to be done.
If you or someone you know has information from a season of a particular Pirate sport please contact Ed Nelson at ednelson12@gra.midco.net. Even if you're unsure if the information is useful send Ed a note and he will let you know if he can use your information.
Records of a few sports have already been posted online and can be found by going to the CHS website going to "Activities & Athletics" and "Sports Records."
Derek Martin was born in Crookston, graduated from Crookston High School in 2003 and attended Gustavus Adolphus College before joining the Times. He now lives in Crookston with his wife and children.
