Polk County Environmental Services has a cost share grant/loan program that is available to property owners in Polk County that have non-compliant septic systems. Funds are made possible through a grant received from the Minnesota Clean Water Legacy Act.

    Polk County Environmental Services has a cost share grant/loan program that is available to property owners in Polk County that have non-compliant septic systems.  Funds are made possible through a grant received from the Minnesota Clean Water Legacy Act.  

    There is a limited amount of funding available and preference for funding will be determined based on income status, condition of existing system, and proximity to priority surface waters.  The County will provide a cost share grant/loan contributing 25 percent of installation cost up to a maximum of $2,500.  

    The remaining loan will have a .0001 percent interest rate and will be paid back over a 10 year term.  To     qualify, maximum adjusted annual household income cannot exceed:

    • 8/$78,000

    The deadline to apply for the Septic System Fix-Up Program is June 1, 2016.  After this date remaining funding will be available on a first come first serve basis to eligible participants.

    Also remember that Polk County Planning and Zoning requires building/land use permits for all construction projects throughout the County.  If you are planning any building/land use projects, contact planning and zoning prior to construction to see what setbacks and ordinance requirements may apply.
