  • Release for a man charged in a brutal beating on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation has been revoked after authorities say he had contact with the victim on social media.
Ryan Thunderhawk, of Fort Yates, is charged in federal court with assault with intent to commit murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
Witnesses say the victim was knocked unconscious three separate times in the July 6 attack. The woman suffered a broken nose and several facial fractures.
Authorities say Thunderhawk violated two terms of his release. Court documents show he admitted to sending messages to the victim on Facebook, and he was discovered with synthetic marijuana in his possession.
Thunderhawk was ordered to be held in jail. Trial is set for Oct. 28.
