The Pirate boys' soccer team won their season opener Saturday on the road against Fergus Falls, beating the Otters 1-0.

Crookston, which finished last season 3-13-1, defeated Fergus Falls last year 2-0 in Crookston.

Senior goalkeeper Michael Tate recorded three saves in the shutout victory. Fergus Falls keeper Nick Weaver have 11 saves.

At 1-0, the Pirates will travel to Detroit Lakes Friday for a matchup with the Lakers. On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the Pirates will travel to East Grand Forks.
