Vance Harren and Charles Eickhof won consolation titles at the Birchmont.
The 90th annual Birchmont Golf Tournament was held last week at Bemidji Town & Country Club, wrapping up Saturday with University of Minnesota Crookston women’s golfer Katie Sheetz (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) taking home the Women’s Championship division title for the second year in a row. In just her second year competing in the Birchmont, Sheetz has not lost a match at the amateur match play tournament.
Crookston native Wyatt Hanson qualified for the Men's Championship and was a consolation semifinalist.
Doug Larson, a junior at Crookston High School, finished runner-up in the consolation bracket for the Vice President's Flight.
In the Letter A Flight, Crookston residents Josh Baldock and Vance Harren squared off for the consolation championship with Harren winning 5-3.
The Junior Championship was loaded with Crookston talent, including Charles Eickhof, Isaac Westlake, Parker Nicholls, Zach Markovich, Brock Heppner and Dane Anderson. Eickhof went on to win the consolation championship 3-2 over Anderson.
