A half-dozen students are sponsored by Crookston Rotary Club

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp was recently held on the beautiful University of Minnesota Crookston campus.

Each camper is sponsored by their local Rotary club and this year there were 149 RYLA campers that were sponsored by 57 Rotary International Clubs from District 5580.

Melida Argueta, Amber Froeber, Gabi Ostgaard, Kari Gillette, Dan Davidson, and Sydney Boike were sponsored by the Crookston Rotary Club.

Most of the students that participated in this year's RYLA camp will be high school seniors in 2014-2015.

Camp RYLA’s mission is to provide outstanding high school students with a variety of educational and recreational activities.

These activities provide numerous opportunities for leadership and team building, and they are designed to expand, improve, and refine the participants’ leadership skills.

Campers are hosted by the Crookston Rotary Club, Rotary International District 5580, and UMC.

The students stay in the residence halls on campus during this week-long program.

Information about camp RYLA is available by going to the RYLA website at district5580ryla.org.
