  • Minneapolis authorities are investigating an injury sustained by a community activist in relation to his arrest.
Al Flowers was released from jail and recovering Sunday from head and face wounds. The 55-year-old tells KSTP-TV he was assaulted by police Saturday.
Online jail records show Flowers was charged with assault and obstructing the legal process. He says he didn't hit anyone.
The Minneapolis police chief and mayor say they can't disclose any information during the investigation. The chief calls the case a distraction.
Flowers and his lawyer, state Sen. Bobby Joe Champion, say officers arrived at his home Saturday to arrest his 16-year-old daughter. They say a fight ensued when Flowers asked to see the warrant.
Flowers is a critic of the police department and has sued the city multiple times.
