  • The educational opportunities and fun continues this summer and into fall at Castle Park with the Kids at Castle "Count Me in at Castle Park!" program featuring special family activities at the Castle Park Natural Place Space.
    Kids at Castle is for kids of all ages, and brothers, sisters, moms, dads, grandparents and family and friends are welcomed and encouraged to join in on the festivities. Kids at Castle events are youth and family-friendly events intended to get children exploring, creating and learning in nature at the Castle Park Natural Play Space. They occur from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month starting on July 14 and continuing through October.
    The Castle Park Natural Play Space initiative is a cooperative between the City of Crookston, Polk County Public Health, Polk County Wellness Coalition, U of M Crookston, NW MN Regional Sustainable Development Partnership, Crookston Early Childhood Initiative (ECI) and the Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP.) Events will be cancelled with inclement weather. Questions should be directed to Leah Winjum at (218) 470-0226.

    • Monday, July 14, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
    Gettin' Messy with Mudpies at Tree Cookies
    Prepare to make a mess and be a mess while creating your own masterpieces in Castle Park's mud kitchen! Help splash some color to the NPS by designing and painting new tree cookies for all visitors to enjoy. Dress for mess and bring your creativity, too!
    • Monday, August 11, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
    Finding Peace in Nature
    Discover the serenity of the Great Outdoors while taking part in Tai Chi led by Megan Scott. local artist Trey Everett will also help guide you in creating your own unique drawing while being inspired by the beauty and peace of nature.
    • Monday, September 8, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
    "Down on the Farm" at Castle Park
    Get up close and personal with a variety of animals from the farm. You won't want to miss this opportunity to interact with ponies, chickens, goats, bunnies, and more in a spectacular evening!
    • Monday, October 13, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
    Pizazz a Pumpkin
    Decorate a pumpkin like never before! Using all items from nature, you will make the most original pumpkin on the block. A limited amount of pumpkins will be provided for this event – feel free to bring your own and join in the fun.
