  • Ask any Minnesota food vendor and they will tell you their dream is to get a spot at the state fair. One vendor visiting the Polk County Fair this week might be a little closer to that dream thanks to a popular television show. Amanda Zerebko of Foley, Minnesota recently took her food trailer "Fried Food Fantasy" all the way to Tampa Bay, Fla. to appear on the food competition show "Deep Fried Masters." The show, in its second season, travels the U.S. in search of the best fried fair food. Zerebko's episode airs Saturday, July 12 at 9 p.m. in the show’s season premiere on the Destination America channel.
"I was shocked when they said they wanted me on the show," said Zerebko after sending in her audition tape and receiving a quick call back from producers. "It was like a dream come true."
She traveled to Tampa Bay for filming which last two days and excitedly returned to tell her family all about it.
"It was neat to see everything they did behind the scenes," explained Zerebko. "I enjoyed cooking with all the other contestants who have been in the business for so long. It made me feel like a star."
Zerebko and her boyfriend Paul Ruprecht started the food trailer three years ago and have traveled all around Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arkansas and Texas. They even won "Best New Food" at an Arkansas fair with their deep-fried banana split.
The "Fried Food Fantasy" truck features deep fried pickles, mushrooms, cheese curds, shrimp, and even cheesecake.
"Our deep-fried cheesecake was one of the things I made on the show," boasts Zerebko. "I can't reveal the results or whether I won until the show airs, but it's worth the watch."
