More than 200 Century farms, including those in Crookston, will be honored at the Minnesota State Fair in 2014. A Century Farm is marked by 100 years of ownership in the same family and must be five acres or more.
The program is sponsored by the State Fair and Farm Bureau, with a wall at the state fair with the name of the farms, and the families receive a metal sign.
Area farms being honored are Gerald and Sandra Maruska of Angus, the Amiot Farm, David Brule farm, and Malarkey (Baatz) Homestead, all of Crookston, Barbara and Chuck Shulstad of Erskine, Ron Stroot Farm of Euclid, Mark and Michelle Gunderson of Fertile, Hopperstad farm of Gonvick, Forsberg farm of Gully, Stenmoen farm of McIntosh, Mark and Danette Strom, and Robert Patenaude of Red Lake Falls.
