  •     Brittany Stuck, skin therapist at Rejuv Salon and Spa, recently attended the Happy Healthy Kids Expo at the Fertile-Beltrami School.  The Expo had a focal point of children from birth to third grade.
Brittany demonstrated UV exposure with color changing beads. "When approached, kids were instructed to make a bracelet and then to do the test," Stuck explained.
When the bracelet was completed, kids would place the bracelet under the UV light and within seconds the beads would turn purple. The child's bracelet would be the control and the variable would be a few beads in a Ziploc baggie covered with Dermalogica's Solar Defense Booster SPF 50.  The variable beads stayed clear but sunscreen had to be reapplied in order to keep clear.
"The point of the test is to educate kids and their parents about sun safety and to reapply when needed," Stuck said.
In the month of March, Brittany, the latest addition to the Rejuv team, attended continuing education for the skin care line Dermalogica.  Her education consisted of the four core course Dermalogica offers.  Classes included Retail and Professional Product Knowledge, Face Mapping, and The Dermalogica Skin Treatment.  Face Mapping is recommended for clients every 4 to 6 weeks, which is a complimentary/free service Rejuv Salon and Spa offers.      Upon completing these courses, Brittany became Demalogica Certified, which is the first step in the three-tier certification. Brittany expressed that she loves the educators at Dermalogica, calling them "top-notch." She will continue to attend online and live education through Dermalogica in the months to come.
Everyone is urged to educate themselves on their skin by coming in for a Face Mapping with Brittany.  With the summer months here, many people have questions for her about sun protection.
