  • Girls' golf: Nicholls' 86 earns medalist, leads Pirates to 2nd

  • The Pirate girls' golf team was led by an 86 from freshman Maddie Nicholls, who earned medalist honors, to place second at the Red Lake Invitational at Long Bow Golf Course Thursday. Eighth grader Ally Tiedemann shot a 93 to place fourth individually.
    Nicholls' 86 was five strokes better than the runners-up.
    Adding to Crookston's team score was junior Abby Parr with a 102 and senior Amber Trostad with a 104. Eighth grader Brelee Jobe carded a 118 and sophomore Emily Ricord shot a 119.
    The Pirates compete at the Park Rapids Invitational Monday, May 19 and the Thief River Falls Quadrangular Tuesday, May 20.
