  • Boys' golf: Pirates finally start season, edged in dual with EGF

  • The Pirate boys' golf season is off and running, competing in a nine-hole dual Thursday with East Grand Forks at Valley Golf Course and a two-day event Friday and Saturday at Fergus Falls. The Green Wave edged the Pirates 221-222 Thursday.
    Sophomore Isaac Westlake posted a 40 to lead Crookston, while senior Brady Heppner shot a 41. Senior Brandon Conklin and freshman Ethan Christopherson each recorded scores of 45 to round out Crookston's team score.
    Junior Michael Tate carded a 51, seventh grader Jack Ricord shot a 53 and junior Parker Nicholls posted a 55.
    Following the two-day invite at Pebble Lake Golf Clourse in Fergus Falls, the Pirates compete at the Bemidji Invitational Monday at Bemidji Town & Country Club. Wednesday is the Pre-Section 8A Meet at Long Bow Golf Club near Walker, Minn.
