  • Lots of Castle Park talk on tap

  • The public furor over the proposed RV park to be located in a portion of Castle Park continues to grow, and a group is rallying to push for another site for the RV park/campground, which would be owned and operated by a private developer and would house temporary American Crystal Sugar workers each fall.

  •     The public furor over the proposed RV park to be located in a portion of Castle Park continues to grow, and a group is rallying to push for another site for the RV park/campground, which would be owned and operated by a private developer and would house temporary American Crystal Sugar workers each fall.
The Castle Park Preservation Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 4 at the Golden Link Senior Citizens Center, and the group encourages everyone interested in keeping the project out of the park to attend.
Meanwhile, the Crookston City Council continues to gather more details on the design and other project specifics in preparation for hosting a second public forum on the matter. On Monday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in the city hall council chambers, the council’s Ways & Means Committee will meet in the hope of having more details available to discuss, and will likely talk about the increasing opposition to the project as well.
Then, on Thursday, May 8, the second public forum on the issue will be held, also at 7 p.m. and also in the council chambers.
The first public forum a couple weeks ago attracted a small but vocal group of concerned citizens and Castle Park supporters. Mayor Dave Genereux said he expects the second forum to attract up to 100 people.
