  • Boys' tennis: Prowlers win pair of close matches, edge Pirates 5-2

  • Thief River Falls edged Crookston in a pair of three-set matches Monday and came away with a 5-2 Section 8A victory in Crookston.
    Pirate sophomore Bobby Tiedemann easily won in straight sets at first singles and the duo of senior A.J. Biermaier and freshman Matt Garmen won at first doubles.
    The two tight matches were fourth singles with sophomore Jordan Bengtson dropping two close sets after winning the first 6-1, and second doubles with senior Kal Salentiny and sophomore Andy Gregg falling after taking the first set.
    Crookston drops to 3-7 on the season. It will compete in Detroit Lakes Thursday with duals against the Lakers and Park Rapids.
