  •     Some of the members of the Crookston Lions Clubs celebrated recently with Lions members from around the world with the Lions World Lunch Relay.
In Crookston, at the UMC Brown Dining Room, the event was attended by over 20 people from UMC, Noonday and Dawn to Dusk Lions Clubs, as well as interested members of the community.
The Lunch Relay provided Lions Clubs throughout the world with an opportunity to celebrate their purpose and achievements with many clubs using the event to support service activities.
In Crookston, donations will go to Care and Share to support people who are homeless.
The event kicked off in New Zealand with clubs joining the event at noon in each international time zone, forming the relay as the day proceeded.
Lions Clubs International is the largest service club organization in the world.  Its 1.35 million members in more than 46,000 clubs serve communities in 208 countries and geographical areas around the globe.
Since 1917, Lions clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired, championed youth initiatives, such as the “world’s best” Leo Club in Crookston, and strengthened local communities through hands-on service and humanitarian projects.
