Heidi Hughes will be the presenter.

A free clinic, “Binoculars: How They Work - and How to Buy the Right Model for You” will be held on Tuesday, April 8 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Crookston Library.

    What’s the “best” binocular?

“There’s no simple answer,” says Heidi Hughes, Outreach Coordinator at the Middle-Snake-Tamarac Rivers Watershed District in Warren, Minn.

“Binoculars are like shoes — and there’s no “one size fits all,” Hughes explains.

No matter how much you spend and how many “bells and whistles” available, the most important factor in selecting binoculars is how they fit your hands and your face.

With so many different models these days, how do you find the right fit?

    Want to know more?

Learn all you need to know at Hughes’ hour-long session at the library.

Hughes, a former optics retailer, knows binoculars and will explain the “numbers” (as in 7x35), prisms, brightness, coatings and eye relief.  She’ll recommend what’s best for eyeglass wearers and how to determine the right “fit” for your face and hands.

Participants can bring their binoculars for a quick checkup.   Hughes also will explain how to select binoculars for all-around use and what works well for backyard birding, watching butterflies, sports, hunting, kids and travel.
