  •     With four days and change remaining to vote in this year’s Heartland Chevy Dealers’ Chevy Scholarship Program, the battle royale for Facebook love appears to be down to two students, Crookston High School senior Torrie Greer, and Ben Sullivan of Perham.
At press time Thursday, Sullivan had 1,861 votes, to Greer’s 1,682. This was after a wild Wednesday that had Greer, briefly, surging into first place. Of the remaining eight students selected by Chevrolet to vie for the $5,000 scholarship, the closest vote-getter is around 900 votes behind Sullivan and Greer.
Whomever has the most Facebook tallies when voting ends March 31 wins the $5,000. Go to Facebook, search for Torrie Greer, and you’ll be a click or two away from casting a vote for the CHS senior. Just look for the Chevy Scholarship logo. You can vote once per day.
Greer was last summer’s intern at the Times and worked in the fall in the Times’ newsroom through an independent study curriculum overseen by CHS English teacher Jen Solie. Greer will be the Times’ summer intern in 2014 as well.
Last year, then-CHS senior Isaac Loegering was also named a Chevy Scholarship finalist, and he eventually garnered the most votes of his fellow students and won the $5,000.
