  • Driver OK after his vehicle strikes, kills three horses in the roadway

  •     A Red Lake Falls man walked away uninjured early Monday morning when the vehicle he was driving struck three horses in the roadway in rural East Grand Forks, but the animals died at the scene.   
        The 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Danny Johnson, 30, was totaled. The vehicle’s airbags deployed.   
        The Polk County Sheriff’s Office received the 911 call just before 2 a.m. Monday, March 17 reporting a single-vehicle accident on Polk County Highway 17 near 380th Ave. SW. Johnson was traveling east when he hit the horses in the road.   
        The East Grand Forks Police Department assisted the PCSO at the scene.   
        The investigation continues.
