The Northwest Minnesota Foundation is offering a workshop in Bemidji, Jan. 28 at the NMF, and Thief River Falls, Jan. 29 at Northland Community and Technical College to assist executive directors of nonprofits with a plan for financial literacy. The workshop is designed to help an executive director work with staff and board members to create a culture of financial responsibility and accountability. The workshop is for executive directors only.

The itinerary includes: assessing current financial plans and leadership style, developing a financial leadership plan, clarifying roles and responsibilities that includes building a financial leadership team, and creating a culture of accountability.
Janet Ogden-Brackett of Nonprofit Assistance Fund is leading the workshop. Ogden-Brackett directs all program activities, manages the nonprofit loan program, and oversees the financial management of training and strategic financial counsel. In this capacity, she brings further cohesion and integration to programming and services, helping the lending team assess each nonprofit’s unique financial situation and craft loans that best meet their immediate and long-term needs. As a loan officer, she assists individual nonprofits during the loan application, review process, and throughout the lifecycle of the loan. She also delivers training workshops and provides technical assistance on financial management topics to nonprofits throughout Minnesota.
