Production at the Tony Downs Foods Company plant that has been operating in St. James for 67 years will cease May 30, according to a statement from the compant released Friday. The company said they are trying to find other places within the company for the 75 workers at the facility. “The current competitive atmosphere of the food industry makes it more efficient for the St. James product lines to be manufactered elsewhere,” the statement said. “We are actively seeking new opportunities for the facility.” For more information, please see Thursday's print edition of the St. James Plaindealer.
