The Pirate boys' basketball team finished out its three-game week Saturday with a 58-40 win over the Frazee Hornets at Concordia College in Moorhead. All three wins came against Section 8AA opponents, improving Crookston's record to 7-1 against section foes and 11-3 overall.
"It was a busy week for the Pirates and continues Monday with another game," Pirate head coach Greg Garmen said. "
Senior Emmanuel McCullough finished with 19 points, while junior Aaron Hollcraft scored 14. Junior Ryan Porter recorded eight points and senior Michael Hefta posted six points.
"The kids know their roles and play them well," coach Garmen said. "I guess what we need to do is to continue to improve on defense more than anything. If we can do that we will be in the mix at the end."
Brady Bellefueille led the Hornets with 23 points, while Cory Wokasch finished with seven points.
Crookston led 30-21 at halftime and outscored the Frazee 28-19 in the second half.
The Pirates will host Climax/Fisher Monday with the opening tip at approximately 7:30 p.m.
