Boike went into the game 17 points shy of the mark and finished the game with 19 points.

Junior Sydney Boike became the 10th Pirate girls' basketball player to reach the 1,000-point milestone Saturday. Unfortunately, Crookston fell 55-42 to Frazee at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.

Boike went into the game 17 points shy of the mark and finished the game with 19 points.

"It feels amazing to know I'm part of a group like that," Boike said in an email to the Times. "I feel really fortunate that the time I've put in is paying off! It's always been a dream of mine to be able to say I hit that milestone.

"I knew I was fairly close but didn't really know specifically how many points I needed," she went on to say. "It was awesome that my friends and family had posters prepared!"

Crookston held a 23-22 lead at halftime but Frazee came alive in the second half, outscoring the Pirates 33-19.

Junior Kenzie Klatt added 11 points for Crookston, while junior Danica Brekken finished with six.

Kennady Barlund led the Frazee Hornets with 19 points, while Josi Tappe added 17 points.

The Pirates fall to 4-6 on the season and 3-2 against Section 8AA teams. They will host Bemidji Tuesday with the opening tip at approximately 7:30 p.m.

"I think in order for us to get a bunch of wins, we need to get into a rhythm better with one another," Boike said. "I think with each game we're finding ourselves as a team, and the goal is always to be prepared for playoffs which I think we will be. I think there's something really special about this team!"
