  • A tuberculosis outbreak in Grand Forks appears to be waning, and health officials hope patients will be done with treatment in the spring.
There were 27 confirmed cases of TB in the city in the past 13 months. Grand Forks Public Health program manager Terri Keehr tells the Grand Forks Herald that 11 patients are still in treatment and none is considered contagious.
TB can be fatal if left untreated. Treatment involves daily medication and can last up to a year.
Grand Forks has received about $143,000 from the state for TB management.
