Elizabeth A. Johnson, age 92, of St. James, was called to her eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Society in St. James.
Elizabeth A. Johnson, age 92, of St. James, was called to her eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Society in St. James. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at First Lutheran Church, St. James, with Pastor K. Christian Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Rosendale Lutheran Cemetery in Rosendale Township, rural Madelia. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Elizabeth Ann Wolford was born to John and Anna (Raforth) Wolford in Welcome. She attended and later was a 1939 graduate of Welcome High School. She then attended Brady and Rogers Beauty School in Minneapolis. On August 4, 1941, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Fred H. Johnson and made there home in the Lewisville area where she was employed as a hairdresser. She was employed at Tony Downs Foods in Madelia for twenty-seven years and retired in 1986. Mary her sister retired from Teaching came to live with her. They traveled the globe together in 1993 and lived together fro twenty-nine years. Elizabeth was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. James and a former member of Rosendale Lutheran Church. She greatly enjoyed sewing, cooking and was a great animal lover.
She is survived by her children, Brenda (David) Schmillen of St. James, David J. (Nita) Johnson of Mankato, Faye (Bernard) Johnson of Olivia and Diane (Dick) Bohnert of rural St. James; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren and other relatives.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Wolford; husband, Fred H. Johnson; sister, two brothers and other relatives.
