Becca Vandenheuvel brings the 2014 signing class to four.
The University of Minnesota Crookston volleyball program announced the addition of Becca Vandenheuvel (5-6, DS/Lib., Cannon Falls, Minn.) to their 2014 signing class. Vandenheuvel signed a National Letter of Intent with the Golden Eagles. She will begin playing in the fall of 2014. Vandenheuvel competes for Cannon Falls H.S. and for Southern Minnesota Volleyball (SMV), the same club team that produced 2013 All-NSIC First Team selection Brittany Looker (Jr., OH, Rochester, Minn.) and UMC’s all-time digs leader Chelsea Wiesner (Sr., Lib., Rochester, Minn.)
Vandenheuvel brings the 2014 signing class to four as she joins Alyssa Muelken (6-0, MH, Savage, Minn.), Rachel Freund (5-11, OH, Jordan, Minn.) and Kaycie Hagen (5-8, S, Savage, Minn.).
Vandenheuvel has been an All-Hiawatha Valley Conference pick during four seasons at Cannon Falls H.S. She has also been named the team’s Most Valuable Player during all four of her seasons. She is a five-time All-Area pick. She holds the Cannon Falls H.S. school record for career digs with 2,120 digs and also holds the record for most digs in a season with 595 in 2013.
She is the daughter of Joe and Tammy Vandenheuvel. She plans to major in elementary education. Vandenheuvel was born Feb. 13, 1996.
“Becca is a great defensive specialist that plays every point with a lot of heart and passion,” said head coach Lee Anderson. “She is going to be a very good player at the collegiate level, I am very excited for her to be in our gym next fall.”
All signees are contingent upon admission to UMC and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center. Everyone released today has signed their National Letter of Intent prior to the release of information.
