It entered the conversation as soon as it became reality that a new, multi-use sports, hockey and skating facility home to three sheets of ice was going to be built in Crookston around four years ago: Curling.
Eventually, many said, passionate curling enthusiasts who for years have spent time and money playing the game they love at curling rinks in Grand Forks would have to do what it takes to bring curling to the arena in the town they live in, Crookston.
After off-and-on discussion for years, talks have ramped up this year as a lot of the equipment and other logistical hurdles have been overcome. And now, an open house/orientation session for an adult curling league at the CSC has been scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 6 to 10 p.m. in the CSC’s Gold Arena.
The Wednesday evening league schedule will continue with practice from 6 to 10 p.m. on Nov. 27, followed by league play commencing on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. The inaugural league season will wrap up after approximately 12 weeks on Feb. 26.
The league fee is $400 per team. Each co-ed team will have four players, with any combination of men or women.
