  •     A big part of RiverView Health’s mission focuses on “Exceptional People,” as stated in that portion of the Vision and Mission Statement: “Our people are our foundation. We employ trusted, dedicated professionals who serve with compassion, empathy and respect.’’
As part of RiverView’s desire to recognize those dedicated professionals, RiverView Health announces that Diane Erickson, with RiverView’s Quality/Risk Department, has been named the Employee of the Month (EOM) for October!
Originally from Grand Rapids, Minn., Diane has worked at RiverView for 5 1/2 years. Her first position was as a medical transcriptionist, before being named the Epic Provider Training Coordinator about 15 months ago.
Diane and her husband, John, live in Crookston. They have two children: Kathryn, who is a sophomore at Concordia in Moorhead, and Adam, a senior at Crookston High School.
Of her recent honor Diane says: “I was very shocked to receive this award. It is a great honor. I love my job and I’m grateful to work with so many wonderful people.
“I am also very thankful for the opportunity and challenge of my current position,” she continued. “The last 15 months have been very exciting as we have transitioned to a new electronic medical record. I love working at RiverView Health. It is a wonderful place with fantastic doctors!’’
There was no shortage of praise from coworkers and supervisors in supporting Diane as the Employee of the Month. A few of the comments include:
Sonam Kapoor wrote: “Diane Erickson is a tireless worker who really enjoys what she does. She is not only the ‘Epic Trainer’ at RiverView, but she excels at helping everybody stay informed of all necessary information while juggling the many hats that she wears throughout any given day. Within the busy training days, she continuously carries with her a positive demeanor, even as she keeps up with duties outside of her job description. She is a great role model, and a team player. RiverView Health should be proud to have such a dedicated health care employee on their team. Diane plans regularly scheduled meetings with our providers, i.e. groups and discusses upcoming issues, protocols, and concerns. Because communication is the key to success, getting everyone on board is so important and Diane finds a way to get everyone's buy-in with her can-do and friendly presence. Diane is a go-getter, and could accomplish anything. She is fearless and afraid of nothing and willing to take on the world, if only for a good cause. She wholeheartedly believes in working together as a team, and that synergism is the key to making the changes we need to happen, occur!’’
Page 2 of 2 -     Carrie Michalski added: “There is direct linkage to Diane’s personal contributions and the positive movement of a key organizational quality goal - for our providers to attain Stage 1 meaningful use. Certainly Diane’s work to improve process flow and validate where data needed to be in the record was instrumental in the movement of those scores. Our organization was also recognized as Most Wired, again Diane was instrumental in that achievement. Diane’s key role in working with providers to close charts and attain timely documentation standards (stepping out and transcribing when that was the most reasonable solution to ensure bad debt would be minimized), helped greatly with our Days Cash on Hand, as well.’’
As Employee of the Month, Diane will receive a framed certificate announcing the honor, her choice of a RiverView Health apparel item and $100. She is also now eligible for the 2013 Employee of the Year award in December.
