  •     The big trip for the Golden Link Senior Citizen Center in Crookston this year was to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
The 11-day trip included stops in Wisconsin, Chicago’s Navy Pier, Cincinnati’s Museum of Art, thundering Niagara Falls, NY, then several stops around the Cape Cod area, including Martha’s Vineyard Island, the Clow Farm that specializes in fresh, just-picked cranberries, several restaurants that have fresh lobster, fish, and, of course, their famous New England Clam Chowder, a trip to Provincetown, Orleans, Barnstable, Sandwich, Hyannis, and Woods Hole.
The area was filled with history of the John F. Kennedy family, how the “sandwich” got its name, farms that have cranberry fields, and much more. At the time of the visit, the area was having an “Indian Summer” with temperatures in the high 70s and light winds. The ferry ride from Woods Hole to Martha’s Vineyard had most of the members on the upper deck enjoying the fresh sea air and sunshine. Some members enjoyed rolling up their pants legs and enjoyed a stroll in the surf on the beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. Staying at nicer motels in quiet rooms helped, and having abundant meals with plenty of snacks and, of course, Bingo on the bus!
