  • Prep volleyball: Rams have little problem beating Pirates

  • The Section 8AA Tournament will begin Thursday, Oct. 24 with Crookston traveling to Thief River Falls to face the Prowlers, ranked No. 7 in Class AA.

  • The Pirate volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-8) to Section 8AA rival Roseau Tuesday in Crookston on Senior and Parent's Night in the regular season finale.
    Amelia Johnson led the Rams with 13 kills, while Kiley Borowicz added nine kills. Ericka Beito finished with 23 assists for Roseau.
    "Roseau had a very nice team with an excellent freshman and sophomore players," said Pirate head coach Lon Boike. "They made few mistakes and we made some mistakes on our serve receiving."
    Pirate sophomore Precious Adams recorded five kills, while sophomore Macy Strem added four kills and senior Emily Samuelson had three. Junior Kenzie Klatt posted 11 digs. Junior Shelby Solheim recorded six assists and five digs.
    Crookston enters the postseason at 0-20 and 0-9 against section opponents. The Section 8AA Tournament will begin Thursday, Oct. 24 with Crookston traveling to Thief River Falls to face the Prowlers, ranked No. 7 in Class AA.
    "Thief River Falls will be a tough matchup and for us to succeed we will definitely need to pass well in serve receiving and have a good blocking night," coach Boike said.
