  •     Enactus of the University of Minnesota Crookston recently sponsored a great blood drive on campus.
According Katie Bartelson, donor recruitment representative at United Blood Services, U of M Crookston had a great turnout on October 7th.
Out of 70 people who volunteered to donate, 54 were able to give.  Twelve people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine, which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 66 products were collected.  Twenty six of the donors donated for the first time, Bartelson added.
From beginning to end, the drive was very well organized, she said.
Stacey Grunewald, director of Student Health Services on campus, coordinated the drive.
Enactus, formerly known as the UMC Students in Free Enterprise Chapter (SIFE) sponsored the drive.
Donations from the drive will help meet the blood needs of many patients in 93 area hospitals served by United Blood Services Dakotas, Bartelson said.
“Blood is for sharing; you have truly given the Gift of Life,” she said.
