  • Both Crookston Pirate soccer teams had their postseason roads laid out of them when the Section 8A Tournament brackets were announced. The road is not an easy one, either.
    The Pirate girls, seeded No. 6, travel to East Grand Forks, Minn. today to face the No. 3 Green Wave at 5 p.m. Crookston (3-11-1) lost to East Grand Forks (13-2-1) by the scores of 7-1 and 8-0 this season. The winner plays Saturday against the winner of No. 2 Detroit Lakes and No. 7 Hillcrest Lutheran. Alexandria earned the top seed in the North Subsection, while St. Cloud Cathedral is the top team in the South.
    The Pirate boys, seeded No. 6, travel to Bemidji, Minn. today to take on the No. 3 Lumberjacks at 4 p.m. Crookston (3-12-1) was beaten 5-0 in the lone match with Bemidji (5-8-3) this season. The winner advances to Saturday's quarterfinals against the winner of No. 2 Detroit Lakes and No. 7 Fergus Falls. Hillcrest/Pelican Rapids received the top seed in the North Subsection, while Sartell-St. Stephen is the top seed in the South.
