  • An FBI agent was shot and wounded though not seriously while helping serve a drug warrant in the western North Dakota oil patch.
FBI spokesman Kyle Loven tells KFGO the agent was treated at a hospital and released after the incident Monday night near Watford City. The agent wasn't identified.
Loven didn't release any other details, citing the ongoing investigation. KFGO reports that a 52-year-old Keene man was arrested on drug and weapon counts but wasn't charged in the shooting. Several other arrests were made in the same area Monday.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says the agent was part of a multi-agency crackdown on organized drug distribution in northwestern North Dakota, including the Fort Berthold Reservation. Twenty-two people were charged earlier this year as part of the investigation.
