  • Responsible Beverage Server Training (RBST), also known as "server-seller training," refers to educating owners, managers, servers and sellers at alcohol establishments about strategies to avoid illegally selling alcohol to underage youth or intoxicated patrons.
Polk County Public Health, in conjunction with the Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, will provide free RBST to alcohol retailer owners and staff. PCPH has set three different dates for alcohol servers and sellers to attend free RBST on Oct. 20 at the Crookston PCPH office, Oct. 27 at the Knutson Community Center in Fertile, and Nov. 3 at Embassy Community Center in Fosston. Each session is from 10 a.m. to noon.
The goal of RBST is to decrease the number of illegal alcohol sales to underage youth and intoxicated patrons through education programs that help managers and servers/sellers understand state, community, and establishment-level alcohol policies and potential consequences for failing to comply with such policies (e.g., criminal or civil liability, job loss), and engage managers and servers/sellers in prevention efforts.
Questions? Call Sue Thompson or Marley Melbye at Polk County Public Health at 281-3385.
Funding is provided by the Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentives Grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services Alcohol & Drug Abuse Division.
