The University of Minnesota Crookston women’s golf team is in 12th place after a tough first two rounds of play at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Championship played at The Classic at Madden’s in Brainerd, Minn. The Golden Eagles shot a 421 team score in the first round and slightly improved in round two to shoot a 409.
NSIC Women’s Golf Championship is a four-round tournament played with two rounds in the fall and two in the spring. The final two rounds will be played at Dacotah Ridge Golf Course in Morton, Minn. April 26-27.
Katie Sheetz (So., Grand Rapids, Minn./Biology) led UMC in the tournament with a two-round score of 188 after shooting a 99 in round one and improving by 10 strokes to shoot an 89 on day two. Sheetz is currently tied for 36th place. Bailee Hauser (Fr., Raymond, Minn./Management) shot a 106 and a 96. Jacy Christenson (Sr., Shoreview, Minn./Natural Resources) shot a 103 and a 107 over the two rounds. Rikki Roscoe (So., Big Stone City, S.D./Golf and Turf Management) shot a 113 and 117 while Kelly Gustofson (Sr., Hermantown, Minn./Early Childhood Education) shot a pair of 124’s.
The NSIC Championship completes fall play for the Golden Eagles.
